February 2012 Dance - "Butter the Comfort Dog Benefit" and Mardi Gras Dance
Please join us Saturday, February 18, 2012 for the “Butter, the Comfort Dog, Benefit” and Mardi Gras Dance. Although not required, get in the Mardi Gras spirit and come dressed in your best Mardi Gras attire. Prizes will be given for the best costume/masks!
The dance will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Algonquin, Illinois. It is a benefit for Butter the Comfort Dog. Butter is a beautiful Golden Retriever K-9 Comfort Dog. She has been extensively trained to be calm, tolerant and friendly when "at work". She has visited local schools, churches, retirement homes, shut-ins, fairs and festivals. Butter has been certified to work at Good Shepherd and Sherman Hospitals. Funds raised at this event will be used to repay Butter's cost.
Doors open at 7:00 pm.
The dance will be held from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm with a free Waltz lesson at 7:30 pm from Professional Dance Instructors Frank and Jackie Penze. Open dancing will start at 8:00 pm and continue until 11:00 pm with ballroom, Latin & swing music provided by DJ "Dr. Rod".
We will have free cake, coffee, prizes and surprises. The usual dress code is dressy casual, no jeans or gym shoes. However, if you wear Mardi Gras attire you could win a prize.
Admission is $8/person for USA Dance members, $12/person for non-members and $10/person for seniors 65 and older.
Again, the location for this dance is St. John's Lutheran Church Activity Center (East side of the building), 300 Jefferson Street, Algonquin, IL. See the "Maps" page on this website for directions to this location and to download a map.
